The Soccer League of National Women, earlier this month, introduced new compensation guidelines for next year, inclusive of a nearly 20% rise in the overall pay cap and allocation money that lets teams invest in several players above the max pay.
Yet, the funds cannot be employed to pay players that are the Canadian and US national teams’ members, a move which the standout for the Reign FC of NWSL – Rapinoe, criticized.
“We should sit down to have more conversations regarding what it looks like,” the Californian said when asked regarding the allocated provisions of the fund. “It will be a significant step before the NWSL is going in 2020.”
The NWSL cannot respond immediately to a request for comment.
